ESD Protection Products available from the rubber industry are typically carbon filled conductive materials. Stockwell Elastomerics, Inc. has semi-conductive products that have been used for a number of years to promote ESD Protection in Aerospace, Chemical Processing, Integrated Circuit Handling & Testing in the Electronics Industry.
ESD Protection for IC Handling and Testing
Conductive Silicone Sponge Gaskets and Pads
Conductive silicone sponge gaskets and pads utilize Stockwell Elastomerics, Inc.'s proprietary process of curing a thin dispersion of carbon filled conductive silicone rubber onto the surface of silicone sponge. Silicone sponge generally has high dielectric properties, making it unsuitable for use in applications where ESD protection is essential. The Semiconductor / Integrated Circuits industry, has requirements for semi-conductive gaskets in IC handlers and IC test units that remain flexible from -80°F to 400°F. Conductive silicone sponge gaskets have the same resilience as one would expect with silicone sponge, as the thin conductive dispersion cures as a very flexible and resilient surface. Gaskets can be specified in soft (S480-62-CON), medium (S470-62-CON) and firm (S418-62-CON) densities. Contact us for samples.
ConpadsTM Conductive Grounding Pads
ConpadsTM conductive grounding pads are constructed from silicone sponge rubber and a thin layer of electrically conductive carbon filled silicone rubber. These custom fabricated Rocket Motor Mounting Pads protect solid fuel rocket motors by safely grounding ESD and cushioning motor housings against impact and vibration. Known for their long term ESD protection, these ESD grounding products have effectively served as rocket motor mounting pads for over 15 years at US Air Force base installations, storage depots and on ground support equipment. The combined cushioning and ESD grounding properties are enabling the safe handling of rocket motors used on recent air-launched rocket flights used to place communication satellites into orbit. ConpadsTM conductive grounding pads are bonded to aluminum or steel chocks with RTV60-CON carbon filled conductive silicone adhesive.
Conductive Grounding Pads
Conductive Neoprene
Conductive neoprene SCR7020-CON, with 50,000 max ohm-cm resistivity, is available in 70 durometer Shore A sheets from .032" to .250" thick. Mounting pads from .062" up to 1.0" thick can be compression molded or fabricated to size using Stockwell Elastomerics, Inc.'s water jet cutting capabilities. Applications for SCR7020-CON conductive neoprene include pads used in electronic assembly, gaskets in powder packaging systems where ESD is critical, and mounting pads used in holding and transporting aerospace hardware and tooling.
Conductive Silicone
Conductive silicone SE65-CON, with 5.0 max ohm-cm resistivity is available in 65 durometer Shore A sheets from .020" to .500" thick. Mounting pads and gaskets can be compression molded or fabricated to size using Stockwell Elastomerics, Inc.'s die cutting or water jet cutting capabilities. SE65-CON is a carbon filled silicone compound - which has proven to maintain its electrical properties after years of exposure to sunlight and outdoor conditions.
Conductive Silicone Sealant
Conductive silicone sealant RTV60-CON is a one part carbon filled conductive adhesive for bonding electrically conductive silicone to metal assemblies. It cures at room temperature when exposed to atmospheric moisture.
Conductive Sponge Sheet for ESD Protection
S4503-CON is a blend of Butyl and EPDM synthetic rubber containing the needed additives for semi-conductive ESD properties. For gaskets or pads requiring ESD protection at ambient, this provides an economical alternative to our series of conductive silicone coated silicone sponge materials
