Technical Sales Executive (Sales Engineer)

What does a Technical Sales Executive do at Stockwell Elastomerics?

The Technical Sales Executive is a high-impact, customer-facing role responsible for driving sustained revenue growth through technical engagement, consultative selling, and strategic account management. This position combines the responsibilities of a field sales representative and a sales engineer—serving as both a commercial driver and a technical problem solver.

You will work directly with OEM engineering teams to influence design decisions, specify custom silicone and EMI shielding components, and guide projects from prototype through production.

Core Responsibilities

Revenue & Territory Growth

  • Own and execute a territory growth plan targeting 6–10% annual revenue growth
  • Expand existing accounts while identifying and converting new OEM opportunities
  • Develop pipeline through specification-driven selling and early design engagement

Technical Sales & Engineering Interface

  • Engage directly with design engineers to specify gasket, pad, and EMI shielding solutions
  • Translate application requirements into manufacturable solutions in collaboration with Applications Engineering
  • Present technical capabilities via Lunch & Learns, design reviews, and trade events

Account Development & Relationship Management

  • Build multi-level relationships across engineering, procurement, and operations
  • Manage and grow key accounts (e.g., “Hero” and target customers)
  • Lead customer visits both onsite and at Stockwell’s Philadelphia facility

Opportunity Development & Pipeline Management

  • Drive new business through proactive outreach and technical consultation
  • Maintain accurate CRM data for quotes, samples, and project tracking
  • Deliver timely follow-up on all customer interactions

Voice of Customer & Strategic Input

  • Capture market intelligence on applications, materials, and competitive activity
  • Contribute to company strategy through structured feedback and opportunity insights
  • Support new product and capability development initiatives

Customer Experience & Responsiveness

  • Lead resolution of technical and commercial issues with urgency
  • Deliver rapid response aligned with Stockwell’s prototype-to-production model
  • Ensure high-quality communication across all customer touchpoints

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related field (required)

Experience

  • 5–10+ years in technical sales, applications engineering, or manufacturing sales
  • Experience selling into technology OEM markets preferred
  • Background in low-to-mid volume, high-specification components highly valued

Technical & Business Skills

  • Strong understanding of:
    • Elastomeric materials (silicone, fluorosilicone, foam, conductive elastomers)
    • Manufacturing processes (die cutting, molding, waterjet cutting)
  • Proficiency in:
    • CRM and ERP systems
    • Microsoft Office
    • CAD (preferred)

  • Comfortable discussing material properties, tolerances, and manufacturability

  • Location: Philadelphia, PA (U.S.-based manufacturing environment)
  • Travel: Typically <30%, with customer-facing visits as needed
  • Work environment includes office, manufacturing, and occasional warehouse exposure
  • Physical requirements include mobility, communication, and light lifting (≤35 lbs)
