Foam Gaskets

Silicone foam gaskets and urethane foam gaskets made from industry-leading materials.

Stockwell Elastomerics manufactures foam gaskets that provide reliable sealing, cushioning, and vibration isolation in demanding applications. Utilizing materials from vendor-partners Rogers Corporation and St. Gobain, Stockwell fabricates silicone and urethane foam gaskets that are wholly manufactured in the United States. Stockwell Elastomerics’ manufacturing capabilities include flash-cutting, water jet cutting, and die-cutting for low-to-high volumes. Additional services include foam lamination to achieve non-standard thickness.

As a Rogers Corporation Preferred Converter, Stockwell Elastomerics inventories and fabricates BISCO® Silicones and PORON® cellular urethanes. Stockwell Elastomerics is also an authorized Saint-Gobain converter and fabricates custom gaskets from Norseal® silicone foam, a brand formerly known as COHRlastic®. Most gaskets manufactured by Stockwell Elastomerics have a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing, typically with 3M™ adhesives.

Silicone Foam Gaskets

Silicone foam gaskets offer excellent temperature resistance and outstanding performance in outdoor environments. Closed-cell silicone foam is recommended for water sealing and also seals out dust in electronic enclosures. Applications include IP-rated enclosure seals with Ingress Protection (IP) levels up to IP66. Custom gaskets made of silicone foam provide good cushioning, have very low compression set, and are available in fire resistant grades.

In outdoor environments where UV exposure, ozone, rain, and temperature extremes are factors, silicone foam gaskets are commonly used to seal telecommunications cabinets, solar inverters, and housings for outdoor LED lighting. With their high-temperature resistance and typical UL94 V-0 rating, silicone foam gaskets are also widely used in defense electronics and battery energy storage systems (BESS). Additional applications include industrial control panels and HVAC systems that require flame resistance along with vibration and shock isolation.

BISCO Silicone Foam Gasket Materials

Stockwell Elastomerics is one of the leading authorized suppliers of BISCO Silicones in the United States and manufactures gaskets from the following materials, which have different degrees of softness or firmness.

Stockwell Elastomerics also fabricates BISCO Silicone Foam Gasket Tape (HT-800) rolls with acrylic adhesive.

Norseal Silicone Foam Gasket Materials

Silicone foam gaskets made of Saint-Gobain Norseal materials are available in different densities.

  • Low-DensityF-12
  • Low/Medium-Low DensityF-15
  • Medium Density Closed Cell: F-20

PORON Urethane Foam Gaskets

PORON urethane foam gaskets provide moderate temperature resistance and are an excellent choice for applications requiring dust sealing, cushioning, and shock absorption. While water sealing is possible with proper compression and limited exposure, PORON is generally not recommended for continuous or heavy water sealing applications.

With its fine open‑cell structure, PORON is ideal for dust‑sealing applications and offers exceptional compression‑set resistance and energy absorption. PORON urethane foam is typically less expensive than silicone foam, making it a cost‑effective solution for many indoor electronic applications.

Supported PORON Foam Gasket Materials

Stockwell Elastomerics fabricates urethane foam gaskets from these supported PORON materials.

Unsupported PORON Foam Gasket Materials

Stockwell Elastomerics also fabricates urethane foam gaskets from these unsupported PORON materials.
